I have done a lot with my car over the decades but the Pinto alternator and voltage regulator are still there, along with a Bosch coil from something not British

Take your suspected to be toast battery to Canadian Tire and put it on their tester. I guarantee it will come up as failed and they will offer to sell you a new one :D

Oddly enough I will take the battery to Canadian tire as that's where it came from and its probably still under warranty. Right now the car is put away for the winter and I'm hobbling with an injured foot, so no rush.

I have a battery comparison test going on in the boats. Interstate new 2017 in the Allison, Canada Tire new 2017 in the J Craft. Talk to me in 5 years - I hope they last that long.

If you're going to compare batteries, take note of specs. I'd bet the larger case battery with the lower cca rating will last the longest....

I vote intestate for the win!! I have Interstate cranking battery , it sits in the boat unhooked in the off season, not on a maintainer. I will admit I think its getting weak and needs changing but its 9 years old!
