SB1 has some oxidization on the black and grey. I have never buffed much of anything but I have a orbital palm buffer. Who can guide me on products and techniques.

you need a wheel with adjustable speeds....an orbital is nothing more then a fast hand!

So for my xr 02 when I did the bottom, I used aqua buff there are 2 differnt stages. I started with the course stage and moved to the fine finish stage. with the aqua buff and gel coat you can't burn anything and it is pretty easy

I bought a princess auto buffing wheel for cheap and went to town

you are welcome to borrow the wheel anytime... you would need to get pads and product

Beware of machines that act only as "fast hands"....
They may get you where you want to be but the results may not be what you'd expect....

I have used the Aqua Buff too, Mitch.
I have also had success with many of the 3M products. Finesse It was one I really liked.
One point I can suggest to you is make sure the surface is stripped of anything else (wax, etc).
If you try to compound with wax over the gell, it gets maessed up pretty quick.

Also be VERY CAREFUL with a buffing wheel, it is very easy to burn the finish, any high points and edges should be taped off. I picked up a complete set of compounds, pads and variable speed buffer from a local small auto paint supply shop. It was pretty affordable, the buffer was made of chinesium and has since broken, but for what I paid for it, it got me through enough projects that it didn't owe me anything.

Seconded on contacting Murph, he had a thread on FBC a while back about a technique called GEL ABRASION that was news to me.
