or maby not , i think this is a 2.4l

piston measures 3.350. so its a worn 2.4l right :|

2.0l is 3.125"

2.5l is 3.5"

so is this a chrome bore motor,, :?: did they make a steel 2.4l :? :| 2.4l should be 3.375" how do i tell if its chrome,,, it looks steel to me the other cylinders have hone marks still

If the motor was original before this I would imagine that the model or serial number for the unit could be cross referenced to know what type of bore it was (chrome or steel). I cannot tell too much from the photos but if the cylinder walls are damaged in that cylinder I would not put a new piston and rod in to see how long it lasts because I doubt it would be very long.

ODO50584 is the number,, i thought it was a 2.5l steel bore, but its deffinatly a 2.4l judging by the cylinder bore its bang on 3.375 i cant find out if its chrome or steel,, i thought all 2.4s were chrome or nikasil might be mistaken, and i dont think i could save this sleeve anyway, its pretty chewed.

pics of the rod and piston,, one rod bolt broke the other backed out, rod cap is mint,, is this the cause? one bolt was in a port the other stuck in the reed cage.. i haven't located the needle barings :? this is Awesome.

the other 5 cylinders have hone marks and are so clean i think this motor had low hours when it popped,, the oil injection was half deleted,, i think the gear is still in it,, so that could be why the rod bolt failed,,also i think it was underpropped and probably spinning way high...

I have an original 2.4 bp block that has all steel liners. So, yup, they made them.

thats what i have here, its steel, i found a 2.4l chrome bore 200 efi that needs 2 pistons, i was going to pickup for parts, but i dont know if i can use any of it,, my other thought was re build it, if was in better condition rod, sleeve and reed cage wise,,
