The sender unit works out of the tank yet we place back in the tank pour 50 litres of fuel and does not resgister |

I think the new funky fuel may be a contributing factor here. if the guage reads with the sender wired through the same wiring out of the tank, maybe the float f*cked? buy a new Tempo or sierra universal sender and trim the float rod to the same lenght and you should be good to go. I would double check you wiring connections first. James, the newer cars all seem to suffer the same fate after a few years, seems the new fuels build up some film and cause them not to work properly.Ever notice when you fill up the guage takes ten minutes to read full? |

Could this be an issue that something on the sender is shorting / grounding out to the tank? |

I think any grounding would make the gauge read full!but your probably right about the wires or resister coil shorting when the sender is in the intalled position!just get a new one,it's probably due!
