I have run a lot of brass props. I got my first stainless prop in 1968 from Mercury for my 1250 BP after I beat their factory boys with a 2 blade brass Mercury prop reworked by John Beer. Most of the inline 6 six Mercury boys ran 14 inch 2 blade elephant ear props on their short shafts. The motors would shake bad enough to crack the 15 inch mids. Taylor, Quinn and I found out that if you thinned the blade, the blade would flex and the boat got on plane easier. We also found that you could run a thinned out 24 or 26 pitch and it would accelerate like a 24 but had the top end of a 26 to 28 pitch. The problem was the props didn't last and John couldn't reweld them. Because I ran more circle races, I used more of them. Dick and Ted switched to stainless once Mercury send some stainless props to Canada. I got all the old props. So to answer your question. The prop looks thick enough and I would test it. IF? you thin it out the blade will break either at the hub or 1.5 to 2 inches at the end. |

thats pretty cool, to bad its not stainless i need one just that size, i have no idea about running it but it looks like the hub is solid? so there is no place for the exhaust to escape |

It also has a rubber hub in it as well. You can only see that from the back side though. |

It actually looks like it would work well. Like I said, I was just worried about the weight of it. I guess I'll have to see what it does in the spring. |
