anyone toyed with weight placement around your boat to make up for being side steer... how much, where to put it without loosing speed..

the venom falls on its side at 110... not ideal.

The exception being bluejay burgers and the yearly cheeseburger picnic.

James - I assume you mean it falls to starboard correct?

my valero handles 90x better with my gf in the passenger seat,, so im either going to re-rig center steer or try to move some weight over. I for one defiantly can not go without the dirty burgers

I have always run weight in the nose for ballast in all my boats...even in the MVPs...what makes you think you loose speed...because it gives you the handling... too make the speed. There are several reasons to add weight (Hole Shot, weight distribution - ballast, and messing with the C/G... its all worth trying). What's right for any boat??? I have always started with about 20# and have gone as high as 100#. Just make sure it is secured so it does not land on you when you get in a mystery condition. I generally have made a strong box and will put anything it it from an anchor to free weights (without the bars) :) Certainly in a V it can help...but I also find that it can be a aero condition that puts them on thier side at speed. And that is ofetn the nature of the beast with thier frontal area as opposed to some tunnels that have a way of displacing the air for aero benefit... Does your motor have solid mounts?

Could you or would you offset the weight to the passenger side in front of where one would sit? You wouldn't need the full weight of an adult as the centre of gravity. I know nothing but this is what I was thinking about.

Like Anthony says you need to test how much weight you need. It's not necessarily the full weight of the driver. I see Kenny driving with a gas can in his passenger seat...I use LC..:)

Good info Anthony..thx.

yes solid mounts... im wondering if i can put weight in the back left corner so that i dont sacrifice speed... i would assume i wouldnt need much so i prob wouldn't loose speed anyway..

Balancing a side steer V bottom will have several variable from boat to boat … You have to find out what works for your boat.
… Normally i have people in the boat so I need to have movable weight, which consists of approximately 30lbs ...need more for someone heavy. When running solo I have it on the floor ,tied to the front of the passenger seat ...
