Boy this is the first for me, my Stinger lost water pressure last fall so before taking it out this year I replaced the impellor just to find out nothing has changed, I took it apart again to make sure that every thing was in its place, water tube and all, every thing looks good but my water pressure gauge is showing only 5 lbs. at wot, gauge seems to work fine, I can make it move with mouth. What could be causing my problem?

Blown base gasket maybe? Where is your gauge tapped in?

I'm tapped into the pisser just before it goes through the lower cowl, 15 lbs. is what I normally get at wot. There's a good stream coming out of the pisser but maybe not as much as in the past, nothing blocking the hose, I blew in that also. Ah the joy of working with old stuff.
Thank you for the reply

the housings can warp as well, alot of the time its only 20 to 30 dollars more for the complete kit for the water pump and you get everything , the grommet that goes over the tuber could be distorted , I would stary with a complete pump kit.

Well I guess it's a good place to start, now that you have me thinking, I will take the lower off my Formula E and try it on the Stinger.
Cool, I'll let you know on the weekend how it went.
Thanks, Mike

Ok, so I tried my Formula E gear case with a fresh pump and no change, 5 lbs. at wot., check the power head base bolts to see if they were loose and they were fine, tried new gauge, same thing. Now what about the pressure relief valves? Any chance they could be causing me all this problem? Calling for rain tomorrow, I mite as well open up the cover and inspect them.

Just a thought. What about thermostats stuck open? I'm having a similar issue with my engine. Should have about 30lbs and shows 10-12. Good, strong piss and lots of water flow but apparently low pressure. Here's the thing. My pisser is always cold. It wasn't in the fall when I had it running on the stand but now it's as cool as the lake itself.
Like I say just a thought. I'm going to check/replace mine and see what happens.

I took the power head apart Saturday, even took the base plate off and the exhaust can, inspected everything included the water tube, all the water channels, I did not find anything. I guess I could swap the thermostat with the other motor I have on the bench. Now I'm just waiting for my exhaust plates and stat cover gaskets to put the rest together.
Let you guys know what happens this weekend when I take her out.
