might sound like silly question. but at roughly what speed would a 17ft v hull with pad actually get on the pad ? I know each hull is going to be different, but a rough idea would be good. the boat is deep v with a pad, engine is a 1977 johnson 140 crossflow with a 13 3/4x23 srx prop. cant post pic as it keeps saying Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached???? |

What boat? Prob 60-65 but unfortunately you likely wont see that speed with your setup unless she be real light n that crossflow can scream real high. You gotta use a site like photobucket to host pics but I've not tried it either so I just never post pics.. |

Pretty cool hull! I'd expect it to lift around 60-65, but with 140hp you're tapped out. Big mods to the V4, or step up to a V6, that baby should move |

This boat used to be mine, but now belongs to a friend who is taking it apart and doing a restoration. stringers transom floor etc. It is nothing at all like a sidewinder, ive had the dateline bikini and that is identical to sidewinders. sidewinder and dateline are exactly the same boats, both companies say they done it first. this is a picton, better built boat than a dateline/sidewinder as it can do stuff in the proper rough. The picton was designed for offshore racing and ski racing, the race boats were just same hulls without the extra comfort bits. these ride very high on the water. if you look at this http://ocrda.info/history/ then the photo gallery it gives an idea of what these boats were to race in. but if she needs to get to 60mph to be on pad then that might not happen. |
