Ok here is a few questions for the guys that have had or do use different reeds in their engines.

1/ what sort of top end gains do you get ? ( is it very noticable )
2/ what is the life of the aftermarket reeds ? ( hours /years )
3/ any difference in idle and mid range ? ( rougher / smoother/ more or less power )
4/ do you have to use the original reed stops
5/ do you have to change any settings (timing and or carbs )
6/ is this just a simple straight swap out one 56 cu in evinrude.

I know that a lot of people say they change reeds incase of breakages ruining an engine if
the OEM metal reeds break. that I can understand.
But what is the best type to get, plastic or carbon ?
and is there any down sides to changing from OEM reeds in a omc triple ?

my use is recreational and a fair bit of flat out running when no police boats around ha ha .
I wont be doing any internal mods to the engine unless it ever needs a re-build.
.
