I've collected a bunch of ignition parts off a 1989 150 proV and i want to put them on my 225. It seems the mount location for the plastic cam that controls the carbs is in a different spot between the two. Does anyone have a picture of the throttle linkage on a 225 thats been changed over or is there a different plastic cam piece available to make this work? |

I have a 200 2.6 L without the computer and a 225 2.6 L with the computer. They were always that way from the factory though. If I get you a photo of each would that help you any? |

The 200 is quite a bit different from the 225 not even including the actual ignition system. The cam is different and the rod coming off the timing arm is much smaller. See photo for the 200. [/URL] |

They're mounted different on vertical vs. horizontal reed fronts. You'll just have to mod the link rod that runs from the timing arm to the throttle cam I believe. |

That picture helps. Dubber is there a spacer between the throttle lever and the block on your 200? Im guessing no. |

Ok looking at the motor it is inconclusive. Looking at the parts fiche it appears there are washers for sure. Follow this link and click on diagram for what lurks behind. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamah ... parts.html |

Thanks for the exploded view. I had to space the throttle arm out about an inch and i used the longer 225 linkage to the throttle cam. Used the 225 throttle cam but had to file it down so the butterflys would fully close. Lost some travel but it works well. Didn't gain much from the change. |

From what I have always understood was that going to the older style ignition you can more easily adjust timing which when twinned with other mods allows you to make more power. I don't think an outright swap would do much of anything but rather lets you get serious. |
