I got an e-mail from a fellow with a DT50 twin cylinder and he wants to make it a DT65. He was told the powerheads are the same and the difference is the carburetors. He had seen a "NEW" DT50-DT65 complete powerhead on the web.
THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! They look the same from the outside, the carbs look the same.....INSIDE THEY ARE A BIT DIFFERENT. The DT50 is an 80MM bore....44.12 cubic inch The DT65 is an 84MM bore.....48.69 cubic inch You likely need sleeves and pistons. Crank is the same on both.
BOTH have the same carb. DT50 has a 165 main and 85 pilot jet. DT65 has a 167.5 main and 67.5 pilot jet. Jetting is the only difference in the carbs. Both have the same reed cage...4 sets of 4 pedal
DIFFERENT LOWER UNIT GEAR RATIO.... DT50..11:24 DT65...12:23
I suggest you be cautious and look for DT65 parts only.
