Weird question I know
How many degrees will a Merc 2.5 swivle turn?

My problem is that my string steering leads come out of the boat 49" apart and stock Allison wingplates are 30" apart. This cause the line to bind up when I turn. The drum is trying to pull in more cable then is will let out.
I need to figure out the geometry so that the line will not bind up or slack during regular turning. I know that the leads are all supposed to be parallel and attatch on the plane of the pivot tube but I am not putting 50" wingplate on my boat lol

I figure that if I extend the attachment point on the wingplate 2.5" out AND 2.5" back it should work.
From the #'s i put on paper I shouldn't have an issue up to 45 degrees but off the top of my head I don't know what lock to lock is on an offshore swivle.
anyone have a clue???

I might still have a copy of a Merc 15" "Shop drawing" that shows all the measurements and lengths. I'll look tonight P I think it's 90* in total. Most likely that's wrong though.
I'm guessing you're not at the boat to measure it

No luck sir.

Can't find my sheets for that. I'd think TopGun has all the shop drawing type specs in the full shop service manuals.

If you can wait til tomorrow I can go out and measure it on my Ally. The powerhead is off so it should be easy. I take it you want total degrees stop to stop.

And the measurement is .... 30 degrees from center each direction.
Checked a couple of mids, same on both.
