Hi I thought you might be interested in what happened to my T-850 Allison at Gravenhurst. It appears to me that the hull, in an effort to save weight, was laid up without enough resin. I've seen this before, the layers don't bond together. In the pics, you can see DRY fiberglass and you can pass a putty knife in between layers, easily, in the affected areas. My glass guy has been at it for 2 weeks now, almost finished. I'm afraid to ask the price, it's the cost of racing I guess. Larry in Florida was caught in a lengthy rainy humid spell when I ordered the hull so he jobbed out the hull layup to an indoor facility. I don't suspect any other boats will have this same problem, hope not anyway. Should be up and running in a week or so. See you at Dunnville. Dave

We have had a few hull problems in T850. Craig Fraser had to have some work done on his Allison as well. All of the new Critchfields have been fine. The Rapid Crafts have had no problems. Some of the older Critchfields, VooDoos and Deltas have had a few issues , due to age and wear and tear. The latest TOP GUN composite Critchfields are excellent. The last one a T750 OMC combo is running 55 mph with no trim and not a lot of set up time. |
