My son's Voodoo currently has an 89 50hp Evinrude, no power trim. How much of a difference would it make on performance going to a 60hp, 2 or 3 cyl? Currently will run 49mph with his whopping 100lbs. Any years better than others? Thanks |

Ive seen 60mph with a stock 49ci 70hp and a 24p raker on our delta. I would guess youd pick up 5mph or more depending on setup, probably closer to 10mph if setup well |

Is there any difference in performance between a OMC 2 cyl 60 and a 3 cyl 60? Around how much would a late 80's 3 cyl 60hp be worth? Thanks |

Your 89 50hp is the same as the earlier 60hp two cylinders, one is prop rated and the other is crank rated. I'd go with the 70hp 49er, dime a dozen and can be found cheap. The 56er 60hp and 70hp are surprisingly still in demand. I sold a 70hp 49er in the spring and if I had 5 or 6 56ers I could have sold them all |

Thanks For a 50 hp twin, 49 mph is excellent. Most of the long shaft 49 3 cylinder motors run low to mid 50's on VooDoo's and do not drive as nice because of the larger gear case. If you compare the cost to rebuild a 49 to a 56, there is not much difference and the 56 is much stronger. You do not need a 15 inch mid but a nitro gear case makes a big difference in handling. Now it gets costly. I think a better less costly option is to go Yamaha. Get a 70 hp long shaft and put the 55 hp yamaha small gear case on it. It bolts right on. |

Thanks for the great info guys. I am definitely surprised with how good the little 2 cyl runs with just my son in the boat but speed drops off quite a bit with more weight. Its also a bit of a pain with no power trim. The couple other Voodoo's on the lake do mid 50's so of course he wants to keep up! So I guess best bet for long term would be to look for either a 56ci OMC or go Yamaha. How about Mercury? Are the small Mercs any good? I read the thread on the 3 cyl 60 merc from a while ago and they seem like a possible choice. I have always ran big Mercs on my boats but never had a small HP one. |

For the price this would be a good purchase. You could use your power head. Later you could sell this for far more than you invested. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-boat-parts-trai ... nFlag=true |
