Curious what peoples' opinions are for buying some less expensive parts. I'm trying to save some bucks but don't want to buy junk. Sierra vs. CDI vs. Merc stator for a 60hp 3cyl Merc? Sierra vs. OMC/BRP clutch dog for a Nitro lower.? Teleflex fuel pump rebuild kit vs. OMC/BRP? Sierra water pump kit or impellers vs. any original manufacturer - Yamaha, OMC..? I know it can be hit or miss depending on the actual part, but it also seems that some of this stuff might be coming from the same OEM supplier... What about in general, are there brands that people are ok with? others that are not worth the trouble? WSM, GLM, CDI, etc.. |

Stators from Sierra or CDI I have had good luck with. Sometimes cost is about the same as OEM from what Ive found. Fuel pump kits are a bit hit and miss with aftermarket. As long as you run non ethanol fuel I would use them. Depends on application, wouldnt use aftermarket in my sst 60. Impellers I typically use Sierra's in standard use applications because of availability in most cases. Ive had good luck with WSM parts in general. I have had delays in getting parts through a certain dealer but have gotten parts super quick from a different dealer. |
