Looking for T Boat guys to help me with this project.
The way to get young people into our sport is at the entry level.
We need to offer options for early teens.
Currently we have only our junior A hydro.
My vision is to offer options:
- the A hydro
- the small tunnel
- the T boat
- the dinghy
They could all run as a group.
They are all 40 to 45 mph classes.
The bottom three would run stock motors...they could run 2 stroke and 4 stroke. The 4 stroke would need to have a horsepower advantage to make up for the rev limiter.
You would stagger the start so the boats are spread out around the course.
Many other countries have small 15 hp V hull classes.
We don't need to do that .
We already have the T Boat.

PROJECT:
I have this new composite Critchfield at Top Gun.

I need help with the glass work and rigging,
I want to make this boat a GT30...
It will not be as fast as the normal GT30 overseas but it should run 45 mph.
Fast enough and safe enough for an early teen.
We could have it on display and demonstrate it at our races.
Maybe we get lucky and a dealer loans us a 30 hp/40 hp 4 stroke .

INTERESTED??

OK, now that makes sense. We are not adding another race to the TORC schedule, but running all of the above listed by Don, in A Hydro. I'm in on this concept. Wish I lived closer to help rig boat (Critch).

This is something I could help out with for sure. My 14 year son Evan would love to help as well. It would be a pretty simple setup. I would be willing to supply some hardware and put some time in.

I kinda like this idea too, except the hydro would be in definite trouble with the wakes and rough water caused by the other 3 type of boats. I think you have to get people/kids interested by getting them to race with equipment they already have, getting in low cost (safety equipment only) then let them upgrade as the interest grows!

I would be interested in knowing who these people are and what boats they have. I tried promoting a HOBBY Division within T Class for people with old EP hulls, FE hulls etc. I got no interest. Last year offered people with 49 OMC T boats free entry fees and got no interest.
Had I got a few of these slower T850 boats out and we had 14 boats in total between T750 and T850, I would have had some of the T750's move up to T850. That would have made it necessary to run 2 heats in T850. I would have put the slower T850's along with the T750 in one heat and all the fast T850's in the other heat. The high boat count would make it possible that the 49 omc, 52 & 60 Mercury and 70ces yamaha never had to race against the altered and faster 56 OMC.
