A viper with a short 90 might be fun but I doubt you'd see much more than 45-50mph. A stout V4 would be fun times...

Current owner is a fellow named Mike. Mike says the previous owner had the transom done a Hydrostream Canada. He did not know when. Boat is painted black. I remember a black Viper that had lots of issues. If John did the transom? I would not think there was a problem. Question is....is the story true!

that doesn't look like the one ken had. hard to tell from the pic.. the paint wasn't bonded very well on the one ken had. and the bottom was out of shape.. you will know right away if you end up looking at it..

[quote="BoomerMuskoka"] ya and you should of added finger ports to yours while the sleeves were out.. :D now that would be fun..

I did add them! The 90 Yamaha is a mod motor.. It makes 119.6 hp at 6500 rpm and over 100 hp at 7500 rpm I did the research and had Jon at Hydro Tec build the motor years ago. Unlike the 130 hp mod 90s Steve Cooler raced in Formula V that blew multiple gaskets, did not last and overall ran poorly, this build is perfect. Much better than the simple 110 hp mods and it runs on Shell 92 fuel. Jon asked if they could copy my specs for other customers. There are a few motors similar out there. Contact them if you want one.
The only 15 foot viper I have been in was a new one powered by a 115 Mercury. it ran low 60s. I think the Yamaha with the small foot 1;71 gears will run in the 65 mph range on a viper.
Steve Coolers Rapid Craft ran low to mid 80s.

When the T850 racers were running all the mod 56 motors, I toyed with the idea of running the Yamaha dressed as an SST 60 on the Oasis. Jim talked me out of doing it. He was right, all the mod guys will do is get wet.

I still think the 90 (even modded) will be light on a Viper. Remember its basically a Vector with the beak chopped off (I know its not...but from a size prospective). The modded 90 might make 120hp but it doesn't make V4 torque...so unless it's a comp boat with a single seat you're going to want some power to cruise comfortabley. There was a Vision up here with a 90 Yamaha and it worked ok...but...it was slower than a voodoo with a 55 Suzuki.
