I've always had good luck with grinding out gel cracks with a flapper wheel like this. They are way easier to control then a thick grinding stone. Finish with a 60 and 120 orbital sander and fill with 3m marine premium filler (vinyl ester) Cheap and CT carries it. 220 that then work your way up to a 400 with a high build type primer and you shouldnt see the repairs. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/6 ... ?locale=en Looking good though |

thanks pat, im not sure what i will be using yet,, still grinding, then im gonna do some grinding and then some more grinding, then i have to build a transom, and possibly do some more grinding ,, that slopy mess of fiber glass was a peice of transom the guy i bought it off stuck in,, wasn't hard, luckily the guy didnt know how to add hardener to resin would of been a b^%$h to get out,, plus some more rot i had to cut out..,, i hate when people half cut out a transom and start trying to molest half a transom back in,,, i put a good dent in it today still have several hours on the grinder,, i had it smoking today, |

I think what Pat is suggesting is to use a flap disc on the grinder and put the stone grinder wheel away, the flap disc does a nicer job and gives a better contour and is easier to control. They do remove material well. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Fla ... tedIndex=2 Cheers, |

It looked to me like you had a rigid wheel on your grinder. |
