http://youtu.be/0DBvF3u3unM not sure 88,89 maybe? One thing for sure was that I was getting a good look at the back of Steves #12....That was the year we ran at Port Colborne and after the 1st heat we checked your gear case and found it was bound up.Gave you an extra gear case Tim brought along and your boat came alive...I remember you blew right by me and had about 3-4 boat lengths on me by the 2nd turn....when you hooked it....scared the hell out of me...Im glad I stayed on your outside corner....As for Dunnville the only good thing about it was that since you won you had to buy the beer.....Jim |

I though the Port Colborne race was in 1988, but I may be wrong. That gearcase was 3 miles per hour better. I remember spinning the prop in neutral and counting 10 revolutions. I think this video was 1989, as it was the year that the Canadian Nationals were in Dunnville. OMC put up $1000 for each OMC that won at this event. This was our last race till 2008 when we started racing ThunderCats. Thank you for posting these. Great memories Jim. |

Those were development years for the class. You see the improvements in the boat design and rule changes as well. Critchfields, VooDoos, Lees, and the Oasis hulls started to replace the Deltas and Allisons. If this race was 1989 the boats do not appear to have power trim. Did the power trim rule come in 1990? Some of those race boats are still around. Many of the ultra light one's did not last. To my knowledge all of the Danny Critchield boata weighed in the 245 lb range. The Comp VooDoo and Deltas were 160 range. TOP GUN had the first light Critchfield which was made by Lee who purchased the Critchfield molds. Paul has some of the early 90's races. It would be nice to get them posted as well. Look at the number of racers that raced back then and are now racing in T. |

The APBA rules change in 86-87 allowed the enclosed deck Critchfields to run in EP ...About the same year 86-87 the APBA allowed power trim in EP...At the 87 KKK nationals we were one of the few boats not having power trim...thanks Jim |
