Good idea. That way the top motor mounts would line up perfect when you use the long shaft tuner and base. You need to make sure the spline portion lines up with the top, so the lower bracket is lined up. Gig what do you think?

The 56er (and some of the newer 49's) steering arm has a larger diameter shaft then the older 15" steering arm. You would have to find a older 20" arm to make it work. I will check the diameter of the 2 banger 15" and 20" tonight

When I was playing around in the shop and cut that mid down, I ground down the old weld, and popped the arm off the shaft. After you cut the shaft, the diameter of the end of the shaft has to be turned down slightly in the lathe in order to fit it back in the arm to weld it back together, as the diameter of the hole in the steering arm is a little under the main diameter of the shaft. This was on the newer style mid anyway.

If someone is interested in this we can talk to Scott about bringing it back. Scott's a hunter and that Dear head will get him interested for sure.

Question and Answer
Thanks for posting the powerheads for sale. I have called on a few and every time the motors are already sold. I am really interested in getting one. Can you e-mail me first before posting?

You forgot to tell me what powerhead your after. I am guessing your after a 56 OMC. The costly motors are slow to sell. Price is the key. There is one currently for sale on this site. Ryley is selling it. Yes he is selling it for more than he paid. But, if Ryley had not acted quickly to get it within a few hours of it being offerred for sale, some rebuilder would have got it and it would not have been available for a T racer. That is the only one I know of now. Did you call Paul at Top Gun?
