Hobby ONE is 10 to 11 foot non V and non-tunnel hulls with stock 40 hp 2 cylinder motors. aluminium prop, no set back or power trim. These are your small 2 seater Jetstar type hulls. There are lots of them around and they are low cost Also many low cost motors. Especially 2 cylinder These boats would also be used for ladies races. A boat could have a sponsor and the owner would be paid for allowing it to be raced. No points but there is a trophy award each day for each group. Idea is to get people out. Hobby TWO is long and short shaft big foot 3 cylinder 50 to 70 hp 52 cubic inch maximum displacement STOCK MOTORS on 13.5 foot to 15 foot maximum. Commercial V hulls. Total weight boat, motor and driver over 850 lbs. These are your non-competition, production model VooDoos, Checkmate. Baja, Sidewinder. Kennedy etc. A boat could have a sponsor and the owner would be paid for allowing it to be raced. No points but there is a trophy award each day for each group. Idea is to get people out. Anyone one or group interested? Anyone have another idea or can expand on this one? It is all about attracting people to get involved or more involved in TORC. |

I think your idea of T (?) Hobby or Open class is brilliant. Give a lot of people a chance to taste racing at an affordable and available level. I have a ratty old T-Cat I was thinking of retiring. Might be worth rebuilding if there was a place for it. |

Here's another idea particularly since I know it's cheap and fun. How about 8-10' Zodiac (or equivalent) mono hull inflatables with stock 9.9's I just picked up 2 for $150 that need work. 9.9's well, they're everywhere. Easy to transport, easy to drive, cheap to run. Could probably speak to Ron Hill and get a bunch of spec props as well. Now before you laugh… A few years ago our National entry level motorcycle race bike were stock Honda CBR125's Ya they were slow but it was good racing and regardless of what was going on in the pits, everything stopped for the CBR125 race. Competitors and fans loved it. All the CBR's looked the same as would the Zodiacs. It's all about fans identifying with what's on the track. |

Tomcat, you understand the concept. We get people to come out and try racing without any pressure or major expense. Say we get 10 boats. In the group there are 3 SLT, a Voodoo, a speed cat, 5 home made or kit hulls. Lots of fun for fans and racers. They only race one heat per day. I would suggest they run first. That way the other racers can help them. After their race they can get involved with helping out. The class can be called Hobby Open Production (HOP) |

Thats sounding good. I personally dont have the time and resources to build/ race a t-boat. A " run what you brung" kinda open entry level race will get ppl out and having fun, i even think the zodiac thing would be cool to, and safer to a point aswell with novice drivers, if you get run into with a zodiac its more just a bump than if you got run into with a plywood/ glass boat lol |

The small 10 to 11 foot 2 seater hulls are making a come back. There are several being freshed on the site. This past weekend there were 5 boats at our small marina being winter stored all of them in mint shape with 30 to 50 hp motors. Two had 4 strokes on them. The Mini VooDoo had an interesting serial number custom 99? The other was a NEW Aristocraft wood boat. |
