They also said the motor can handle weight. The block is different to the Yamaha 55 hp and has a different head that does not fit on the later model. That explains why the 55 hp Yamaha performed poorly on the Tuff 16. My power head is NOS on a 15 inch mid with a NOS 1:71 foot. I am looking forward to seeing how it compares. |

I always tell racers to be patient when you are trying to build original outboards. This 60D motor project is a good example. I got the 15 inch midsection in 2008. The NOS long block in 2013, I just got original gaskets last week. Last on the list was a 1993 55 Yamaha parts motor. I got one last Sunday. I never over paid for any of it. Another advantage for being patient. The only other parts will be reeds and jets and I ordered them. The OMC boys are in trouble next year. DOC is the only true Yamaha guy so he will get the opportunity to race it. It will be on Jim's 911 boat. Enough is enough. I am tired of seeing OMCs run 1, 2. 3 every race. |

There is a reason Dok is the only Yamaha guy! |

Sorry gang, we've got the new blue printed Tohatsu 60D race motor from Europe. I'm afraid the OMC's and the Yammy's are in trouble in 2016? Merc's as well. We are seeing 64 mph on the big end and punch off the pin to die for. Matt & I had to compensate for our weight dis advantage. With a light driver 66 mph is not out of the question. Look out T-850's. |
