Good turn out 9 boats http://www.torc.ca/2025-results.html By the results some racers must have had issues...example Chris Gordon finished last both days? Jesse won both days.....................dominate performance Josh had a 3rd and second ...........in the battle Kristain had a 2nd and a third ......impressive start for the season Craig finished 4 th both days .......steady performance Matt had a 5th and 6 th..............about the same as last year Eric had a 9th and 5th................I think Eric expected better result Mikayla had a 8th and 7th...........she’s running well with less horsepower Mack had a 7 th and 8th...........something must have happened Chris had a 6 th and a did not finish ....looks like motor issue? |

I heard from a fan at the race that Chris did have engine problems and Mack had a big time hook in one of the turns. The water condition got rough during the races and sometimes Eric and Josh both had control issues in the turns . Jesse ran extremely well and looked very fast. The boat cameras show what it is like to race T Class. The water condition is much worse when you’re racing in a pack. It’s difficult to find a clear lane to run in let alone clean water. Your constantly in the wakes of other boats and you have to watch out for the rooster tail spray from boats ahead of you. For the non racer you think that every boat would be difficult to drive in those conditions. So why would Eric say his Checkmate is a handful and more difficult to drive. Every boat appears to be having control issues. You can hang a TBOAT on its tail on a lake run and feel very comfortable. In a race you need to have that same comfortable and confident feeling while running in the rough water and thru the turns. The boat has to react the way you expect it to do in every situation during the race. Your pushing the boat to it’s limits and many times the competition pushes you to the point where you exceed the boats limit or you simply put the boat in a position where it can’t function as it normally does. I have raced both a MX13 and the MX15. I mentioned the term “dart” on another thread. The boat never gets settled even momentarily in the rough water. Your constantly adjusting the wheel. The boat doesn’t track well and constantly rocking side to side like its falling off its pad. It doesn’t hang the nose in a stationary position. The boat wants to catch water and dart off to the right. When you try to pull it back the boat slides to the right. My 13 was much slower than Eric’s, but my 15 ran approximately the same speed as Eric’s. Credit Eric for trying this Boat this year and don’t be surprised if he has a super light Jones /Gordon Critchfield next season. |
