A few of us have been looking at this class for a few years. The number one problem is the class is too slow and we can't get interest. We wanted boats that raced on the oval in the high 70's to low 80's. The APBA version is low 70's. Here is a boat which the owner said raced in COR. It doesn't conform to their rules, so that may not be true. I do like the motor and the speed is in the range we wanted. http://www.screamandfly.com/showthread. ... iver-Racer |

Here are some of the ideas and suggestions previously submitted. First: We wanted the class to be 80 ish, noisy and try to link it to drag, so you could race both the oval and do the line. Most people interested didn't want stock motors or a spec engine that was an EFI nor have the weight in 1600 lb range like the APBA COR boats. So here were some ideas: I came down to these two requests. [1] any make of 150 hp motor [2] mod 2 litre I think it is possible to have both. Simple rules. If you run a mod 2 litre you must run a 24 pitch prop or one that gets 80 mph top speed. The props could be supplied by the COR group and you draw for the prop you run. The motor and boat combination dictates the prop you get to use. The idea is to have all of the boats competitive and keep everyone in the speed range for the class. With more interest in drag, some maybe interested in working on CANADIAN COR. |

just my opinion speed dose not make it exciting for the crowds but tight neck and neck racing is the ticket, the parade races that we have (our group included) is a sleeper to watch |

The extra 10 mph makes a big difference. From the crowd point of view it is difficult to tell the difference between 80 and 95 mph boat. It's the noise of the motor and the action of the boat that gets their attention. A 2 litre V6 turning 8000 rpm sounds fast. A good way to stop the parade is to use motors with different performance characteristics. The 2 litre would be the top end screamer in this case and the stock 150's would have lots of torgue and punch out of the turns. One of the reasons you get a parade is all the motors are same-same. |

i know we have talked about this before but i think limiting the motor to just 2.0 mercs makes it hard to get people to together.. maybe just limiting it to 200hp anything might get people excited.. |

A 2L merc with some holes in the mid sounds pretty sweet too |
