I happen to trip over this video by mistake. As a GM muscle car guy from the 1960’s I played with a lot of small block Chevy motors. I always thought the 400 cu. inch motor should have been the best one. The cooling system and the crank shaft were the issues. The 302 and 1970 350 LT1 solid lifter motors with a 411 rear ends were the most fun to drive.
The idea of running a 327 crank in the 400 block never occurred to me back then. Very impressed with the 400 plus hp on 87 octane gas and not high compression. Bet there is more in that motor with fuel injection, cylinder head and cam shaft selection.

Now say you have a 350 mercury IO in a Checkmate, BaJa etc. wouldn’t this motor be a better replacement when it’s time to replace the engine??
