Post subject: | Conniston water speed records week |
The first week of November will be speed records week up in the lake district of England. Like every year there will be boats from uk and various from around the world. I will post results as they come in and hope to have some good video sent to me from a friend who is going up there to watch the fast boats try and break records. each year world records in different classes get broke, some by a fair amount and some just by 10ths of a mph. Last year a world record was broken by a boat that actually flipped as it went through the timing gate. it was deemed a record as after slowed down video showed the boat was still on the water when it reached the gate. The driver Kieth whittle was more concerned about the record than anything else. here is what happened last year at 131.67mph new world record....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xACISggYyk |

Pretty amazing he was able to get himself out of the boat so quickly after a crash like that. You would think there would be a safety boat on him right away. |

the driver of the boat that crashed kieth whittle used to have a boat yard near me, a very helpful bloke who is also a top class outboard mechanic. with balls of steel too. he now runs a evinrude dealership, the largest in the uk and based on the south coast. you can bet he will be at conniston again looking for another record breaking run. So many people go there with every kind of water craft and they cater for every class too. from the smallest powered to 50 foot offshore race boats. I am hoping to get some good little vids sent me during the speed week and some footage sent live too.. |

well after talking to a friend I am going up to coniston with him to watch some records get broke. I am hoping to take lots of pics and a bit of video too. I am hoping the fog don't return that has hampered a few morning runs so far this week. the journey up to Coniston Water and have a cup of tea in the Bluebird café over looking the lake. will take around 4 hours if we get no traffic, will leave at 4 am so should get plenty to see. . |
