Floor mount bracket would be easy to make for the existing design.
It would just require another piece of angle machined to match the mounting holes.
I am also designing a floor mount as well as a flush mount.

My issue is time right now!!
As soon as I have some made I will post pic.'s.

Wildcatt - maybe you could be my test boat!!
Of course that would mean I have to go along for the ride. :D

No problem RowBoat. On the testing and the ride. Anytime.
I've got an old OMC single arm shifter right now. Very Basic - but should do the job. It would be nice to have the detent though.

I did some machining on the weekend and have the first prototype made.
It still needs finishing to remove some of the machining marks.
It was good to make the first one as I realized some ways to make it easier to machine.
The jig I made to hold the shifter portion was not steady enough but the new one will be.
If I can find some more time, I should have some ready soon.

I need input on your shifter cable types.
Bmax gave me some excellent tips and dimensions.
As you can see in my drawing, I based it on a cable with an adjustable lug.
The Nydahl shifter cable mount is for a different style.

Let me know what you have, guys!!
Dimensions, pictures.......anything will help.

Your stuff is obviously much nicer than mine.. But my universal cable mount is as simple as can be. Literally just a hole drilled and then cut through the middle. Easy peasy.
I rushed mine just to get on the water. I had full intention of pulling it off and trying to make it prettier and more functional... But alas.. It works and I'm Lazy.
I will caution again though.... Atleast on the full size boats... NO DETENT = SUCK.

I want to engineer something that creates resistance at neutral... Sometimes the effort to pull out of gear pushes you into reverse.... I hate it.

Here is the prototype. Finish is a little rough but would polish up no problems or ?

Next units will be better as I had to modify the jig to create it.
Hole in the top part of the shifter is for a handle if needed.

Protruding bolts are the hidden mounting bolts. The black one will also hold the cable adaptor.

Please post/send me your comments on this thing. Is it worth building more of them?
I am building a floor mount as well that would replace the back piece.

Dude.. They look awesome. The problem I ran into was the length of the solid section on the end of the Yamaha/universal cables.. Hence my extended piece at the back.

Thanks!!

I have made it like this so I can have multiple cable adaptors on one base. Side mount or floor mount.
I just need information on all the cables that we use so I can design and fab the adaptor!!
I am also incorporating a "soft" detent into this design.
You could go past one of the three positions but it would be more difficult.

I am trying to keep this a simple as possible and still look good.
My K & S unit never slipped out of gear and the cable controlled the shift distance.
