Lake Racer AGE REQUIREMENT: 16 HULLS. STV ModVP must have area where 2cnd seat was available for seat installation etc etc ) Interior may be removed / reconfigured for single seat. No true tunnel hull designs allowed ( Example : Must have centre pad ) MOTORS. No nitrous Internal / external modifications allowed Mercury Drag / S3000 will be limited to 150psi cranking compression Any *Gasoline* allowed Minimum 12" midsection Gear Case must be shiftable from the drivers seat. Nose cones allowed Any type / brand ECU allowed but no “steam wheels” / any form or type to change fuel curve in any way once launched for competition WEIGHT. 1400 LBS MINIMUM All boats in competition must weight in and have complete rigged boat and race ready boat weigh a minimum of 1400 LBS ( driver not included ) (*)(*) |

So , the new additions to my idea of a simple rule adjustment are : HULLS. Explanation of Allison XR2001 Explanation for STV ModVP MOTORS. 12" mid section allowed but must be shiftable from drivers seat ( reason being that it is common to 12" mids now but to make it an allowed common rule it should be shiftable like any other "lake boat" ) WEIGHT. 1400 LBS Minimum for all boats in Lake Racer excluding the driver ( example here is that Ted's Allison weighs 1391lbs with him in the boat so ...... once you weigh the boat / motor / rigging alone he will have to add 180 lbs +/- , but racers like Ken and Dean may not have to add any weight at all ) There isn't much change here but it's a start to try and get you all as equal as possible. If the top three have to add weight and the others don't then you would be surprised how much of a difference 50 or so pounds can make in equalizing things. All just thoughts for now but let's try and nail this down if at all Cheers |

Really hope that my boat weighs 1400 lbs , I'm thinking it does So what do you guys think your boat weighs ? Maybe it is a good idea for 1400 lbs. rule and another class 1400 lbs. boat and driver, which we would enter both for the extra runs per day. Giving the spectators a bigger time slot for the Drag Boats. Their request by the way ! |

Ok, i'm up for the 1400lb rule. Willing to bet i can go on a diet Alright Kenny stop laughing, my boat will go on a diet. Anyone know if the local dumps will allow you to disconnect to at least get a weight with the trailer? Greg, are you able to lift the boat from the trailer at your place? Nice work guy's, this is definitely moving in the right direction. |

So I can tell you right now.... my boat with my racing gear in the boat and the rear seat which I don't use for TORC my boat weighs 1324. so I would have to add 75lbs........ Still not sure if it should be just boat weight or boat and driver weight........ becasue I might have to have Dean drive my boat all season and have a 100lb weight advantage!!!! All ODBA is boat with driver......T Class is boat with driver..... |

Lets say My boat 1324+ Dean (145?) equal to the rule weight (1400) 1545lbs race ready Me driving my boat I am 255 puts me at 1655.....Not sure if that is fair?? just playing devils advocate again. |

Ok. This is just my take on things in Lakeracer right now. I personally don’t think we’ve yet reached a bridge that needs to be crossed. I don’t hear any complaining about guys only being able to make 2 passes and as mentioned in another thread I’ve had my fair share of days going 2 to the trailer as well. As you said, we can’t satisfy everyone but think about who you want to reward. If you look at who’s had success in the class thus far, it’s pretty representative of their experience and efforts running a drag setup. I can speak from only my perspective but adding a 1400lb weight limit will end my days. Doing the math in my head I am expecting to weigh in somewhere around the 1,150lb – 1,200lb range boat ready to run no driver. Adding 250lbs to a 17ft V-King is very different then 180lbs to an SS-2000. Having run a small prop with a passenger in the past I can tell you it is a very sad looking affair lol Despite my personal issues with the proposed rules I have a few questions 1) Why would we weigh boats without drivers? Seems giving advantage to someone based on their personal size is controversial? 2) If we are limiting drags to 150psi why would we allow 280’s with internal/external mods run compression. The 280exhause chest leaves A LOT of room to build a strong motor. Much stronger then the stock 245/260’s that most guys seem to be showing up with. 3) What’s the point of allowing 12” mids in a ‘lakeracer’ class as these were built as factory race parts? |
