The Formula 4 UIM has been running in Europe for over a decade. There have been several test trials on different sized tunnels in North American. The one that was of interest to T Class was a test trial of the Formula 4 on an SST 45 tunnel. The SST 45 is the smallest tunnel class boat along with Sport C that is run in North American. T Class had the Formula 4 60 mercury running in T750 . The SST 45 size is a similar size as a T Boat.. The initial pre-testing thought was the motor would be too heavy for the small boat.
I managed to find the video of the test.

Certainly better than expected results.
Now how much better would it be with the sponson UIM water pickups. The newer Formula 4 with the raised rev limiter. The setup could certainly be improved with more testing.
Maybe a Mod VP hull can handle the heavier motor weight better than this true tunnel.

I was going thru some original history of what is currently called the Speedcat tunnel. The moulds were purchased by Speedmaster Marine from Rankin Marine in the mid 1990’s.
Rankin Marine started the Ontario Sport C class in 1992. They sold boats to the class racers and sponsored 3 “POP” boats...Coke red boat, Diet Coke grey boat & Sprite green boat. The original boats including these 3 were built by a Sailboat builder.

Now where this ties in with this thread is the motors that were later run on these tunnels
The Coke boat is currently being refreshed. It has a 56’r short shaft.
The Diet Coke boat needs to be restored. It’s previous motor was a 90 Evinrude etec.
The Sprite boat was damaged in an accident while on the trailer. It’s last motor was an in-line 6 mercury 150 hp short shaft
The hull can handle these much heavier outboards better than the SST 45 .
