So I planned a trip with my wife and another couple to go to white cloud island here on Georgian bay. Anyways the winds were out of the north but I am stubborn and wanted to try and get out regardless. What happened was six footers for roughly 2 hours. It was terrifying. We got to a point of no return so we pushed on and made it to our sheltered destination. We ended up having a great night camping at the island but I will never forget that run. By the time we got their we were all soaked and rattled. The first 30 sec. or so of this video is the best example I can find of the shit we were running in.

This morning we went from the island to Wiarton for breakfast and home. It was 1 footers or less and 50 - 75mph the whole way!

For someone who grew up on G-bay you should know better then to venture far when they call for northern winds. Now you get to wire in a new bilge pump as it was likely running the entire trip  :o

To think my daughter wanted to come with you as well!

On a side note I would love to do that overnight trip and likely will someday.....when they call for winds out of the south, 10 km / hr :)

.....and mrs Mitchie won't let you race.......
That camping trip was riskier than any weekend of racing.

In fact Mrs. Mitchie was very much impressed with Mr. Mitchie's navigation skills bringing all into port safely. "Not on my watch!" Mitchie kept saying the entire trip, it was just that nobody could hear him over the roar of the north wind and sea splashing in their faces.
