So...that's a 245?...which would make that an excellent deal!

Ya that is a smokin deal, it is for sure a 2.5 carb. First year.
Compression is low, they had ring problems. Check to see if the heads are updated. The first heads were 42cc, the update was to 38cc. I would pull the heads and make sure the nic is still in good shape. Leak the motor down. Those are good motors, and if it is virgin I am sure will need rings. And well worth restoring. Jetted correctly it will run with a 260 efi.

thanks RBT.
the compression seemed low to me as well, but it has sat for 4+ years so that's a dry cyl bore for sure.
how can i determine if it has 42 or 38 cc heads?
I can pull the heads off tomorrow night and find out.
for a ring set is there a aftermarket product that is better then mercury OEM stuff?
what about carburetor kits. OEm the way to go to rebuild those ?
