Hey guys...Doc...anyone able to help plz....I have the heads off the pro v...I also pulled the exhaust divider plate as I was told to do so I can out the divider plate off the excel onto the pro v
Well the plates are identical on my motor and the excel
I am now wondering if when I pull the powerhead, are the exhaust inserts going to be the same as well and am I about to do a crapload of work for nothing?
Also..I have the intake from the excel still and heard about the horizontal reed cages or something like that...should I change that? Will that intake breathe better than my current one?
Any help greatly appreciated..motor is wide open...yes guys..pics coming!

From what I understand the different reed cage is part of what makes an excel / 225 different over a 200. Not sure what it entails though getting into Frankensteining them. Sorry I cannot answer your exhaust question on the inside but yes my 225 and 200 exhaust plates at the back of the motor were the same going from memory. I have had them both off.

Edit - are you referring to the exhaust tuner? I think they MIGHT be different but the Dok will know (the difference between him and I is that I think and he knows :) )

You guys give me a big head...

The reeds in this particular motor are the same...they are both horizontal fronts. The big differences are the carbs, heads and exhaust tuner. There are some minor porting differences but you'll need to tear it down to do that.

Pull the exhaust cover off and go nuts...the more pieces you leave inside the quicker the rings break-in. Win, Win..
