DOC, your're right, I got fooled by the old change the decal trick. That would be a 55 mph outfit. TOO slow for a T850 and TOO fast acceleration wise for T750. It really fits in the grey area between the two groups. Craig Fraser's big foot short shaft 70 OMC and the maybe TOO fast 49 cubic inch Mercury mentioned on another thread approved to run in T750 this year both fall in the same group.. ALL GOOD NEWS IN MY VIEW! T Class is all about adjusting to the boats available and the boats that come out to the races. When we see a group that fits as a competitive group, we can slot them in and run them in the same heat. Other TORC classes do not have the flexible rules to be able to make the adjustment. I do think the 60 hp Mercury 4 stroke is also going to fit in this grey area as well. We have had several people that want to have a little more motor in T750 because of heavier drivers. Todd and Thom have mentioned it several times. It would not hurt in T750 if we had a group of the 2 cylinder motors running with the 3 cylinder 43 cubic inch motors in one heat and the 3 cylinder twin carb., Mercury 4 stroke 60 hp Mercury, 50 hp ETEC, 70 hp big foot Yamaha and 65 or 70 hp big foot OMC in another. It makes sense to me. All we need is the boats to fill the heats. 2014 will give us a good picture for 2015.

Isn't that the same motor some of these guys in the States are running big #'s with? I'm guessing this motor would run well in 850 with someone who knew what they were doing with it.

Yeah the boys that run down south especially Louisiana area seem to get these motors to haul the mail. But are very tight lipped about anything to do with them.

The 59 in the 60hp setup is a 850 motor, that's what Rusty ran before he switched to the OMC, the restricted 59 in the 40hp setup would be the 750 motor, that what a couple of the thundercats run in 750.

The 59's from the south are mods and would fit in an outlaw class, alot of them run on the juice. Even off the juice they are still fast.

When did the large case 49 get the blessing for the T750 class? I say it's too fast for the class. If someone has one on a existing boat and they want to try the class fine let them run but if they want to stay in the class they are going to have to find a motor that fits in the 750 rules. My opinion is that we don't encourage the 49 merc until we see what it does.

I have no problem slotting boats around to run in certain heats it's all about encouraging growth and expanding the classes, but I think you need to establish how the points are going to be awarded with respect to these grey motors, some guys do want to drive for points others could care less.

Both the 49 Mercury and 60 hp 4 stroke are legal in T750 class for 2014. They are awarded points the same as the other T750 boats. There are no 49 OMC big foots or any other of the grey motors mentioned that are running in 2014. The big difference between racers that are running for points and those that do not care about points is simple. Those running for points to not want to be beat on the race course by those not running for points. We have always encouraged new racers to come out. If by chance we do see a grey motor show up in 2014. That motor would not get points and it would be slotted in the heat and in the class we decide to put it.

Don, From what im reading in your posts the 4 stroke merc and the 49 merc could be in the grey area IF they dominate?
you mention a 50 etec is legal is a 60etec legal?

Agreed...just making sure we have clarification on a non-legal motor racing in T750

Yes, by the current rules all the motors you mentioned are legal in T750 for 2014. Obviously we would not want to change the rules after the 2014 season and remove these motors UNLESS the owners agreeded. So to be fair and to encourage more entries we may need to split the T750 class and or add weight to these boats to even out the field. We will not know what to do until we see them perform. I do know the 50 ETEC is strong. I have not had any feedback on the 60 ETEC.

While I got your attention. I just got a message from a site member who has a short shaft OMC T750 with the 100 block. If anyone is looking for one. Message me and I will forward his contact info.
