I thought last year was bad with the high water two feet over the boathouse deck.
While this year it is 2 inches below the deck, but the snow load damage was much worse.
They had a total of 19 feet of snow. At one time there was 8 feet of snow.
Boats stored outside got cracks due to the weight. Some pumphouses flattened. Two marina storage barns flattened. We were lucky and ours were OK. Our boats were inside and a falling tree missed the pumphouse by 3 feet. The snow totally flattened my roof air vent, broke the deck railing, bent the back of my boathouse so the door was open. The ice moved our 40 by 30 crib dock 2 feet and destroyed one crib. There is NO underbrush in the woods! Everything is flat. Never seen it like that and we have had the cottage since 1985.
Saturday was very cold and damp. Monday was a great day. 22 degrees when we left for home. Bad news..YEP the black flies came out in full force. Good news..no traffic problems on 400 going home.
