Does anyone make volume boats in Canada anymore

Campion, princecraft....mederios (Limestone), Stanley...probably some west coast aluminum..

The 10% tariff on imported boats isn't so good for us in the boat business...

I had read about the tariff in the Globe. The article said that more than 65 percent of our boats are imported. I could not think of 34 percent local. Thanks

Hourston Glasscraft also make a large volume of shitty fiberglass boats out in Vancouver. And as Doc mentioned, several aluminium manufacturers in BC, aluminum hulls are very popular for saltwater use.

Does anybody know what the tariff all includes? Is it both new and used or just new boats only? Does it apply to full packages or do hull/trailer and motor have different tariffs? Does it apply to only metal boats or is it fiberglass as well?

I believe it is just new boats...not full packages. From a dealers' perspective we need to ensure our manufacturers separate the motor and trailer on the invoice so we don't pay on the entire value of the package. I don't believe this will effect used boats.

There are a few low production/custom manufacturers as well, such as Tuff in Cambridge and Blackbird in Port Sydney.
