THIS WOULD BE A 'NEW" PROJECT!
There were people interested in getting a NEW Delta.

MAYBE??....the issue with the molds is CASH FLOW!.......A few deposits....would solve that problem.

SOMETIMES YOU SHOULD NEVER START A PROJECT!
Been collecting the parts for a few years....at least 20
The small race motor YAMAHA NEVER MADE.

THE PRO 30/50 YAMAHA SHORT SHAFT

COWL
50 hp cowl with custom made PRO 30 decals......just like a Pro 50 only says Pro 30

MIDSECTION
15 inch 50 hp yamaha

LOWER UNIT
30 hp yamaha......modified with nosecone and special water intakes.....was back up lower unit for MOD C world record boat in late 1980's.

POWER TRIM
Pro 50 yamaha

POWERHEAD
Mod 50 yamaha built by the best mod yamaha guy in Florida.....ported, finger ports, special crank, special center plug head.
Special custom ignition.....8000 rpm motor!........70 to 80 hp at 7000 rpm.

TUNER
High performance 50 hp Hydro Tec

SO HOW IS THIS FOR BAD LUCK!!

[1] the container with the tuner, and ignition is missing from the boathouse.....must have been one of 3 containers I lost during the high water problem spring last year......so their gone

[2] we take apart the lower unit to check it and replace the seals......guts in it were junk.....case is out of shape....not sure if it will seal.

[3] I got the powerhead back as a complete long block.......when I test fit the flywheel and tighten the nut....the crank shaft breaks right at the top of the motor below the flywheel.

Going to step back from the project for a while.

That is a rough start to a project for sure!! My 245carb is still sitting on my work bench because i put some time into getting my Viper together.

So for now I put a stock 30 hp yamaha lower unit on it.......Then I put the 50 hp lower unit on the tiller short shaft 30 hp.......interesting!!
That lower unit is much shorter compared to the 30 hp.......like 1 to 2 inches shorter......there were ONLY two things I did not like about my tiller 30 hp....one was I had to really jack it up on the boat..............and two there were not a lot of USED performance props available. ....with the 50 hp lower unit I wouldn't have to jack it up as much and any performance prop for a 50 yamaha, 50 tohatsu or 60 mercury all fit.......

I've got a stock short 30 on Paul Coulter's old delta...the short 50 case doesn't bolt right on, does it? That would definitely make life easier with prop selection.

The boat is a rocket even with the aluminum prop but I have to think of the future.

I have the 30 powerhead off the mid.......the lower bolts...water pump all fit perfect....the drive shaft looks right so I say its a definite fit in my view

I planned to run it on our mirage tom cat tunnel to take advantage of the mod powerhead. I was at a race years ago where there were mod 50 hp yamahas racing mod 0MC 49 on hydro's........100 mph on the straights......crazy fast and the yamahas were competitive. I spoke with the top yamaha driver...he finished 3 rd......asked him about the motor....he told me who built it.....that's how it all started.
The Mod C speed record on a tunnel was 80 plus mph.....that's a 35 cubic inch motor......with a 42 cubic inch you would think it would be faster.
