Yes, Tim topping picked some up, says they look good, he is going to give me an update once he has a chance to fit them in a case.

Great price

Would other (non-factory) ratios be legal for racing?

I kinda want to try 1.93 in an OMC 2Cyl...

Running 1.93 in the OMC would take away the punch out of the corners which is one of their advantages. I don't think the OMC nitro case is a good as the small 55 hp Yamaha. so far the twin yamaha has not shown 7000 plus rpm like the OMC or run over 60 mph. We do know the yamaha lower unit has worked well with thru hub Mercury props.....even 11.5 and 11 diameter....now would a 1.93 OMC work just as well with the same Mercury props??......one thing we do know is the smaller thru hub Mercury props are much easier to drive on the race course.....Matt if you do try it...I will loan you a mercury thru hub prop to try......it was said to be a 22 -23 pitch but when Thom worked on it... it was a 18-19.....good prop but too small for the 56'r.....and too large for the Toaster.

NOW MAYBE ONE OF THESE HEADS WOULD HELP THE TWIN YAMAHA?

The 1.78 ratio intrigues me. Should be able to put up some serious top end numbers with the right prop

I've had communication with several people.
- the SST 60 gear set is a good buy....approximately $350.00 Canadian to your door....compared to $1000.00 for the other sets.
- the 1.93 set would not be legal in T750 since it is not an aftermarket exact replacement for the original set....the T750 rule can be changed. With the top OMC boats running over 60 mph and the need for 24 pitch props the 1.93 set allows people to run the smaller pitch props that are more common and the same props run on the other makes as well.....it is still costly to buy and install the 1.93 gears...it would be interesting to see how they perform
- most times you can simply make the same changes by changing props and not the gear set especially when the gear ratios are close.

I hope we get feedback from people who try these different gear ratios before the price increases.

Got my gears already. They look pretty damn good for the price. Time will tell how they hold up

Hi folks, been busy for a while, just logged in, saw this thread.
Prior to placing a Six Mile Lake racer order for 6 sets I spoke with Ryan, the shop owner a month ago.
He was THE manufacturer/supplier for Seaway for years. However with their margin, at ~USD600/C$1000/set product was not moving off the shelf. So Ryan decided to produce a limited run direct to market. His business is a full on machine shop with industrial gear production beyond just marine. The non-marine business slowed down during CV 19 Spring, but marine gears have moved well. Just like in Ontario. anyone that has a cottage is getting out of urban areas, pulling boats out of storage. He is also considering producing gears for the big/fishing foot due to the rarity of Nitro cases. Indeed any 2.0:1 gearing will require a completely different prop than eg: 12x23, which is not compatible.
One of our SML Critch owners is getting 68+mph with stock large case, stock gears; both he & his Rossiter Critch are light.
When I ordered 6 sets, he only had 10 on shelf, he was great to work with, sent via DHL. CAD was in our favour, $290/set to the door.
These are the 'Seaway' gears. Great time to buy, keep a few sets on the shelf, support an independent entrepreneurial business.
