It is actually quite fun.

What did you have before the Triad ? And what's on the Triad again for power ?

I had a little baja with a 150 johnson....

The Triad has a 15" OX66 with the phase III hydro-tec mods... So probably around 300 at the prop.
It did have a 20" factory offshore promax... The Big Block makes a boat load of difference... and every respect (including fuel consumption...O:)

You got the wrong guy..... There were two Baja's.... Mine was small. You might be thinking of "movin up".
I was never in the lock in bobcaygeon.

This was mine.

Aaaahh yessir you are correct. I was thinking of the wrong Baja guy.

By the way I grew up from 0-9 with Baja Sun Sports. My dad had two of them.

I look at Allys as not for everyone. They take some learning to drive. Ally's do bat turns, by most accounts more often than most. The build quality is good, but probably no better than Mr Spaeth's, if as good. Very expensive new.

At lower HPs I think the Ally's are as fast or faster than anything. I do think Hotboat more or less established the GS was faster than the Triad, at least as set up and tested. There are far more STVs claiming big numbers than Ally's and there are probably good reasons for that.

Who asked how fast I think my boat would go with 225? There has been debate on the Ally board from time to time if an SS with a stock 225 PM can go 100. I'm not a set up genius, I'm not going to experiment with different setbacks, and I'm kind of cheap about propellers. So I certainly would expect < 100. My lightly modified 150 has gone 89 and change often enough on my GPS for me to believe it. So I'd expect mid 90's on my GPS with a 225. Not much gain for a lot of HP.

I believe 100mph with a promax on an ss with a 32 or 34 pitch prop and a small gear case.... Ie a coned 200 case
And a really good set up. I also agree with the grandsport thing if we are talking promax. Vs promax (they really seem to carry weight well). The big change occurs when you add more power. There are numerous big power triads in the teens... I'm not sure of any gransports doing that

Two disclaimers.... One.... Yammer says that just because I have not seen it on the web does not mean it does not exist...

Two..... I am not insulting alli gransports..... They are very cool boats.

Eff that....I'll insult them...a family boat that does a bat turn if you get off the gas too hard?? Thx Darris wanna unbolt the front left wheel of my wife's Volvo sport wagon while your at it??

Sure those Alliston boats work well with little motors...but so does my voodoo and its not trying to kill me.

Hahaha.
I would doubt that there's more then a crippled handful of Allison GS's in the 1-teens as well.
Now there ain't too many Triad V21's either and the Triad more so due to the area and aerodynamic forces it faces in compared to the slicing front of an Allison.
SS2000 , XR2002 , XR2001 , XB2002 ...... of and the Hydrostream Veno
( of which I really like ) whoooah do you see an Allison trend there....... as I scratch my left but through my Allison silk boxers ( Darris signed them last week too )

Wouldn't it be fun to have all brand new 280's each of the boats we piss about to actually see the speeds and handling and amount of left handed strippers they fit in them ?
