Those etec people are back at it again....people forget that BRP is a marketing company that happen to build outboards, sleds and PWC's lol

http://youtu.be/zifS4DlisO8

I'd like to see that test done after 300 hours lol....I hope they have the Yamaha dried out from the last test so they can go tow home the etec....

nifty video.
I have alot of time behind the wheel of the new L4NA- 150 motors and i have to say they are a very nice motor!, smart craft ready and user friendly, oil changes are super eazy and same with fuel filters and spark plugs.
however..... they are a little slow onto plane, but work great past 3000 rpm!

Now put it against a L4SC -150 and that E tec will see the same results as that yamaha.
The L4SC price point is about 12,450 and the E tech is 12,400 ish... so for the price point they should be comparing the verado to the E-tec.. not that new L4NA-150 to the E tech.
or even the Opti-150 at a price of 12,340 ish..
Really Mercury has the 150 market pretty good, however the market share shows them as being second on the world with Yamaha on top.

Ya..the new 150 works really well and it is a dream to work on versus the verado. Yamaha is dominant in that segment because they were first to market with the "new 150" 7 years ago...Mercury has just caught up...just. The whole test is a joke when considering who buys these things. Not once have I seen 2 crestliners hooked together for the ultimate pull off (where's Hydriod??) around our place....

I do prefer the na150 to the verado...I'm not the biggest fan of the L4verado...

I was thinking the Evinrude domination part! ...but seriously, I have to say the hours of BS is my favourite part about racing!! :)

My favorite line at the end of the video is that the Mercury, despite its claims, is still a 4-stroke. I don't think that Merc ever claimed it wasn't a 4-stroke (I know I am taking it out of context but it just sounds silly). Marketing is EXACTLY what it is. I love also how they say that the boats are setup perfectly / exactly down to the driver weight. No they are not - one has a 2-stroke and the other a 4-stroke!

I laughed during that video a few times. Like because you need the dealer to do regular maintenance your WHOLE season is over....

They didn't show the pitch of both motors....so the etec probably had the 18 and they put a 19 or 20 on the Merc giving the etec a better hole shot. They should have shown "both" propellers in the vid. They should have used the same 2 boats to show midrange and top end speeds - average consumer isn't looking to pull a barge down the lake.

Funny at the weigh in, the mercs and yamahas seem to be the dominate motor of choice for tournament guys.
