This thread shows the amount of time and money it takes to restore a Delta.
Now that the new molds are being made and we now know some of the history of the Delta hull.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION FOR THE BOAT?
SHOULD IT HAVE??
- a complete floor
- partial floor...how many sections?
- what about under the floor support?
- full cross piece for the seat or have the seat down on the floor?
- stringers
- up to the bow
- half way
- 1/4 way
- what materials should be used?...wood..composite...?
- what about balsa core in the floor..how much and where?
- what would you like the bare hull to weigh? ....130 lbs....150 lbs.... 175 lbs....200 lbs?

what's the use case?

1. win 3 races then throw it out and get a new one?
2. drive it on big water and on long trips, pack a tent, etc., use it for many, many years..?
3. anything in between?

what's the use case?
It would depend on the individual.
Rather than just have the boat come one way, I think it would be an advantage to the buyer and the builder to have a few different
layouts.
There are several people on this site with boat building knowledge and experience. They know what works and what mistakes to avoid.
It would be good to hear their suggestions.
The post is to get them thinking and sharing what they know.

Use wood!
Its the best bang for your buck or know where to use composties if you want to go hitech.

Nothing wrong with either method. Just know where and how to use each material.

Best boats in the world are still built with balsa. Add carbon fiber and you have an incredibly strong light structure.

Absolutely use wood stringers 8-10ft. up from transom. I prefer a full floor, but a two or three piece will work. The full floor gives you more flexibility as to position of tank, battery, seat, etc. The added weight is minimal, but the durability is well worth it. A balsa core is not necessary, with above construction. That will save weight. This is how Danny Critchfield built his boats. The strongback design is the best way to keep boat rigid and support the transom at the same time.

ANOTHER SUGGESTION
OK IF I WAS ORDERING A NEW DELTA THIS IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE THE BUILDER DO.

Use Ballistic Composite Board for the transom and the floor.
You can buy this material from many suppliers
Such as:

It comes in sheets.
I would use 1/4 on the complete two piece floor and build up the center portion of the transom leaving the outside transom part 1/4.
The floor would be across the second rib not on the first.

This composite is super strong and difficult to drill, but it lasts forever.
The boat would likely weight 175 to 200 lbs.

Jim's Critchfield has this material in the transom and also balsa core in the floor. With the higher floor in this delta I don't think you need balsa core.

My 2012 voodoo is built with 3/8 balsa core.
Fiberglass keel box. Balsa transom.
1/2 plywood floor full lenght.

Deck is composite sides and rear. And plywood dash.

Deck and hull are built very light.
There are two visible strips of kevlar in each back corner to prevent breaking the hull.

I almost didnt buy this boat because of how light and thin it is BUT its is very strong. I have beat the shit out of it on the race course and on the lake. It has been a blast to drive and I like it rough lol
