noticed on my last ride, my motor seemed sloppy, it was very choppy and i was bashing around gravenhurst bay for a few hours, once i got it on the trailer, i noticed a strange noise coming from my trim pump from the trim rams where they push up on the motor,, i gave it a shake and seems to be loose at the tilt tube and tilt ram, .. :? do i need bushings, grease.. or worse :? if anyone has or can get a manual for my excel id would be in heaven

Boomer I have the same slop. And I'm sure there's bushings and stuff I need but that's what Rick is for.. He doesn't know it yet but he's going to rebuild my clamp with new stuff this winter. Till then fingers crossed it stays together.

Ya boomer there's nylon bushings on the tilt tube...they wear...and your motor is old...so....

But they aren't hard to replace and not overly expensive.

The creaking is your trim...Yamaha trim makes weird noises if the balls on the rams get dry.

bingo bango,, the rams are pitted too, so the balls dont roll smooth like, thats the noise im hearing for sure,, should i put a drop of greass on the ballz periodically? where should i get bushings, and think id get them in before west lake :? ;)

Use waterproof grease on your balls...and any Yamaha dealer can get you the bushings.

You know Boomer...I have a really really nice clean entire midsection for your excel that still has the black and yellow pinstripe with excel at the bottom...and the trim is MINT I can always get a bigger box and put the 703 controls and a full midsection (minus the exhaust shit) and you will have a fancy new trim and controls for the other yammy. Ship me your wallet with all your credit catds and cash ans I send you back the change and a big box of excel stuff lol
Seriously tho...I do have a really clean and perfect trim..but the entire midsection is mint...as is the cowl
