:| why would you ruin that boat with an OMC :| get giger to make you a 16" Yamaha mid and Dok to mrs phase 3 a 2.6L for you....give your head a shake man

It needs a motor like mine or James'....the motors are cheap and reliable and you can make all the performance parts you need in your basement.

Or go OMC...whichever...yeah coils and power packs... :)

i need a 3.1L dok.

You need a different boat first...like a 380ray lol

im not going to lie i was looking at a few on s&f after i went for a ride in the srv. i dont think that is the direction im going next. i might just rock the valero to death then figure it out from there.

Awesome boat Kev!

Boomer get off the Kool-Aid!

We don't need anymore stinkin Yamaha powered boats around here...stick with a black or white motor ( and not some JC albino Yamaha either).

Like Dok was hinting at you might have to bastardize the omc with some Yamaha ignition

Cut your own mid

Cool Project! I'd love see a build thread on this.

I did a bunch of that stuff last winter and got the supplies from Composite Canada.

http://www.compositescanada.com/

There are others as well.

Good luck! it should be sweet when it's done

For some reason I've always had a thing for OMCs. I might try just cutting my own mid. Have to see what it is when I get it. I want to do something different I guess and it's what's on my Critch. Parts should be cheap for them. I'll likely end up using a merc gear case. I heard the ignition was any easy swap once before. That's good to know. Anyone got an '88 and up 225 omc for sale? Preferably blown up and cheap lol. I think '88 was the first year for the looper?

Gel coat on the boat could likely be saved but I really don't like the stripes on the sides. Pretty sure it's in the Gel. Going to delete the splash well and fill holes in the dash, cracks around the transom on the deck etc so I'm thinking paint might be th way to go.

Does Kledgecell core have a better chance of being alright and dry?

And with the slomc you get all those cool old race hoods.

Google Klegecell...wetness depends on build quality and how the boat was treated through its lifetime. any wet core is bad news...

Those pictures are from back behind my shop in Palmerston. An old 16' Jcraft project to get to one of these days beside it.

You'll love that boat once you're done. Side steer or center steer??
