Hows the painting coming along? I'd be interested to see some close ups of the finish that the roll and tip provides.
I am tempted to go this route but I'm worried about how durable the finish will be when it comes to fenders and stuff.
Your boat has come a long way now. I love the all black sides.

It came out sweet but its not perfect. The downside is that you cant wet sand of buff it like I originally taught because it will mess up the "clear" in the paint and you'll never be able to make it shiny unless you re-coat it. so what your last coat looks like is what you get. Dont get me wrong, I could fool alot of people to thinking this isnt a roll and tip paint but it isnt as perfect as a base and clear.
What I painted is mostly under the water line so I'm satisfied with it. But I wouldnt paint a top with it since it isnt perfect enough for me.
but for under 100$ of material i'm as satisfied as it gets!
for durability only time will tell.

The boat is finished right now. I post some pics! looks killer with the new interior!

I really like that boat! Looks great!

I have had pretty good success with the roll and tip method. As long as the surface is prepped and smooth it works great!
I use foam rollers and foam brushes, but I think a good regular brush is better. Just roll out the paint and knock down the bubbles with the brush. These paint asre self leveling and flow out really nice! I have used Interlux brightside too with good results. Another good option is Epihanes Yacht enamel. I don't thin the paint out at all either. I have been really rushing to get our hydros ready this year, so they turned less than perfect, but over all I am happy. You will find these paint are quite durable too, but its easy to go back and touch up an area if needed. A great option for a value concious guy like myself! :)
