Im a outsider looking in but why not use the obda rules there weights makes it easy for you to travel to the USA or a USA guy come up here . or maybe that just falls back on everyone wont be competitive then

Just out of curiosity does anyone know the general rule of adding weight.
I "think" most sanctioning bodies don't like more the 10% of the overall hull weight for safety or something like that.
Might just be for the smaller boats.

Nothing in any OB Drag Racing organization I've seen. Water bags , steel plate , lead shot , water boxes etc are all easily fitted to any boat with some "creative" thinking. Nuts bolts zip ties ratchet straps.

In NHRA you cannot add more than 500lbs unless bolted to the frame / cage

Lol . Have a very bad habit of not logging off when I leave for work in the morning and it looks like I am on line all day...
Hoping the SRV is as heavy as she looks  I have to be very close to 1400 lbs. give or take  Yes I can get her lighter by a little bit but definitely not enough to get the job done and that will not stop me from showing up at every race.

Hey Kenny, like the way you think. I'm going racing even if i don't do anything to my rig lol. It is just so much fun and a great community to hang around with.

Jay, yes still have the hydraulic plate and a bunch of ways to loose weight if needed. I am definitely lucky since i don't weigh much more than the plate lol.

BTW, i stopped by our local landfill this aft and they will weigh my boat and trailer for $5. Just asked that i don't go during peak hours. I can weigh the trailer at home after lifting the boat and get pretty accurate that way.

Oh, and don't you guy's dare take away squeeze cause once i get as much out of my setup the heads are going on

Dean and Kenny ,
Reading your commitment is what makes this class and the reason for it. Your attitudes are all top notch and it would not be anywhere close to the level of fun it is.
:)

Here is how I calculate weight and how I have run at both GH and DV. The ultimate Goal is to race at the ODBA level so even though some asked me to put my boat on a diet, there is no point if ultimately the goal is Jasper and you gotta weigh 1400.

Thx for asking Jay,

Hull = 750, Engine = 375, Prop = 7, Jack Plate = 40, Battery = 50, Trim Pump = 10, Fuel Pump = 2, Gauges = 5, Controls and Harness 7, anchor = 12, Fire Ext = 5, On Board Charger = 2, Paddles, Lines, Fenders = 10, Fuel 14 US Gal = 98, Misc = 20, Driver = 180 TOTAL = 1573

Back in The NEODA daze we used to race everyone in the class at least once against another. 3 pts for a win and 1 pt for a loss...this way no one has ZERO points. Then you go into the next pool where last races first, second last races second etc. and then if you lost your were eliminated. So in a seven boat class you got 6 races and then at least one in the second pool. It was a ton of racing and logistically it did not take much time either.

Now you don't actually carry lines , fenders , anchor etc for a race do you ?

If you're dead stock internally for Lake Racer under Super Stock motor rules you would be required to weigh in at 1540lbs and be allowed to run 26cc gasket heads

I like the idea of the "Run All" format but we struggle for help now as it is and keeping track PROPERLY would be an issue. Something to consider though. That and adding a 15gallon fuel cell instead of a 5g hahaa.

Your input is welcome as well as your participation.

I agree with your thoughts about simply weighing what you should in ODBA. Problem is that Jason would have to weigh 1710 , Ted weigh exactly what he weighs now 1390 , Pat would have to weigh same as yourself provided you conform to Super Stock motor rules 1540 , Kenny at 1735 , Dean 1540 etc etc ( all weights are boat and driver race ready )

Jeff, are these ODBA Lake Racer weights for a 1/4 mile class?

What are the class weights for 800' racing since that is what we are running? As mentioned, maybe we should take advantage of using a class that already exists

Pat....if you were to run River Racer outlaw class

Small block 2.5l would be 1325/bs

Big block 3.0 L 1400

Must have 15 inch mid or longer (no 12inch allowed)
Shiftable case
Any motor mods internal and exteranal allowed
Limit 180lbs of compression
3 seats of more factory production boats (extra seats can be removed)

The 2014 ODBA Rules for 800' River Racer are different than Jason's post
150psi compression for all motors
1300lbs for 2.5L
1430lbs for big block motors
- and then the rest of what Jason posted. Reason for 150psi compression is due to the stock heads on and stock 280 run on average 150psi when checked

The weights I listed prior are for ODBA Lake Racer 1/4 under Super Stock motor rules for the 2.5's and Jason and Ken's are under Modified Production ( as mentioned previously a bone stock 300 would be allowed in Super Stock if someone approached ODBA and requested a rule amendment )
