I thought about giving up on the Toaster and going with Pro 50 Yamaha power because there were more legal add on parts available for the Yamaha mainly a billet 160 lb cylinder head and several Hydro Tec tuners. The problem is the toaster is the stronger motor in stock form. I posted on Ron Hills site wanting a raced legal T750 50D power head and I contacted some racers in Europe as well. So far no one has offered or even has a legal one.

Thom and Todd next time your'e speaking with Ole at Winrace would you please ask him if one of his old buddies still has an original race prepared 50D Tohatsu. Rumor says Ole knows where one is. It maybe its just the block. That would work for me.
thanks

Alex (link in the above post) can get any part you want for the 50D or the Bass motor new... He's handles all sales for the Bass/Tohatsu project. The 50D comes complete less a foot to him and then he creates the Bass/50D engine. If you want a foot, he can get them... he is just not permitted to sell a 50D in it's complete stock configuration. Complete 50D will be available out of the same area but different shop soon. In November the EPA approved the importation for racing purposes.

The people that have racing experience with the 50D Tohatsu all say the same thing. The older original motors late 80's and early 90's are better. The Bass motor is the later version. Still good, but not as good. It has a lot to do with the castings and legally what you can do to the motor. If I what to race an illegal one that is easy. You can machine any of them to make them perform the same. The challenge I enjoy is running a legal one and having it perform at the record standard. Sooner or later I will find one.

Any tohatsus dealer in NA can get you any part for the d2

FYI I have always been able to bring in d2 motors since I started 5 years ago through other Aquarius dealers in other parts of the world the issue is they cost To much money so I dont see the point, unless racers are now willing to spend 6 grand on a 50 hp carb motor
