Hello this is the owner of the Critchfield with the March 15, yes that I run the boat every summer up it’s working great and up at a couple timer plate issues initially but I got it all sorted out and I’m hitting 75 just about 80 miles an hour with it but that’s as much colonies as I have for it

Older thread here but Regr can you tell me the part numbers of the collar and universal shim gaugeyou used?
I believe I have found them but want to make sure i have the right ones. I have a 1975 75hp evinrude outboard and this website here https://www.crowleymarine.com/support/t ... t-kit.html is saying NOT to use the collar and the shim bar from the 1975 manual. Crowley marine is showing the same shim bar you have used and you have listed but I want to make sure the collar for your part number and universal shim gauge is correct to what I have found for sale.

The tools you have used are these the part numbers ?
393185 Universal shim gauge
328361 Collar

Thanks Reg, I appreciate it, I was concerned with calling you from the states because i made a phone call years ago to a friend in Australia and that 10 minute phone call cost me $50 dollars. Maybe it isn't too much to Canada.

I found the bushing and the shim bar you used but the universal shim gauge i think they call it which holds the driveshaft. I want to be sure it is the correct tool number. I don't see much different from the case you rebuilt and mine. Mine is considered I believe they call the Nitro case unless I'm totally wrong on this but it is the smaller lower unit housing compared to the later years that was larger.
Mine is a 1975 75hp Model 75542B short shaft. Looks identical to the orange case in your youtube video. Still have alot to learn to get the shims right but maybe one day I can get the parts all I need before I become old and wrinkly, lol I'm getting tired of seeing this motor in pieces in my garage.

I do want to add if others are reading this my 1975 75hp evinrude manual calls for a completely different shim bar to be used but this Crowleymarine page here says NOT to use the shim bar gauge that is in the Manual so that is why I want to make sure I get the correct tool numbers. In hindsight I probably should have looked for a good used lower unit but I have been really lucky to find new old stock parts to rebuild this lower unit, like one major part was the new prop shaft for 75 dollars which are now like 450.

I've tried emailing evinrude dealers in my area but theres no response from them about this tooling. Would be easier to call if I could but I drive a truck at night.
