T Party...2016... Are we having one?.

Back to part of my original post:
[1] It is most important that T has representation at next years CBF convention .
For the last few years there has been a disconnect between CBF and TORC. The relationship was likely not going to continue.
Moving forward in 2016 we need to know what TORC's position is with CBF. I was surprised at the meeting when T was put down for not being at last years convention. I didn't think there was any reason to be there in 2015 based on the situation.

Another point we need to address IN MY VIEW:
SOME THOUGHTS:
Does a TORC race need spectators at the race to be successful for the town or does the racers and their teams supply enough extra revenue to the town during the weekend to make it a profitable event for the town?
Why is this important?
If the event needs spectators then the race must be a SHOW to draw people[fans] to the race year after year.
If it is the racers themselves that supply the revenue then It does not need to be a SHOW.
I have always thought it has be a SHOW. And it was important to avoid being same-same every year.
I am starting to think this is not the case and it is the actual racers that generate the revenue by their bookings at hotels, food purchases, fuel etc.
Drag and T members are a large part of that revenue for the town. Also racers tend to overate their importance. Most fans at our events no nothing about the classes and cannot relate or care about us going around a circle in a little boat. Its the racers themselves that enjoy the racing.

[2] T Party...2016... Are we having one?
We do have new racers in 2016 in T850 and some racers that did not race in 2015 that are back for 2016.
We need feedback. Do you want a T Party?
.

These races (be it G'hurst, H'burton or any other municipally supported venue) HAVE TO BE A SHOW!! The economic impact of the racers alone is NOT sufficient to justify the aggravation and expense to the town.
We need to be putting on a show to draw new people to the venue and encourage existing local residents and cottagers to come into town on a weekend when they usually would stay away. If we can't deliver tangable results to towns like Gravenhurst and Haliburton we won't get the required support from the local officials to put on these events.

The EVENT / SHOW should be a main part of planning and scheduling. Hearing what was said at this weekend's past meeting by people in charge was an eye opener for sure. This must be first and foremost for not just racers but from the executive committee .........

100% correct!! For everyone in all classes. You must have a 2016 membership card. The next step is to have your class members at the TORC meeting. There they can table suggestions to be voted on, The more people you have there the better your chance for approval.

:? Was informed that the Jan 23rd meeting is private :( WoW !
