I can remember seeing a J Craft race in the 70's. I don't remember it winning.

A J would have raced in FI or FJ class back then. Those are 90 and 100 cubic inch classes. The motor for sale is an FE motor 49 cubic inch. The J would never have raced with it. I think the seller is mixed up in his/her history. The motor beside the motor for sale appears to be an FI motor. It is possible the J ran 66 mph with that motor. A J would not break 50 mph with the motor for sale.

I remember it as FJ, mostly 100 cube Mercs doing the winning on Kennedy's and Checkmates. There was at least one V4 OMC on a J, which I think I remember from a magazine rather than from being a live spectator. That was before the V6s came out.

You are of course correct about a 3 cyl on a J doing 60 mph.
