That appeals to both my cheap and lazy sides LOL , not sure really , just though it would finish her off, I think it has a teflon based paint on it now , not going to strip the bottom, just fix the hooks.

I have had it on many bottoms and gear cases. Need to be dry sanded with fine steel wool to get the extra speed.

I know pretty much everything.. And I say .. Step 1) sand down to bare metal/filler step 2) 2 light coats of self etching primer step 3) multiple coats of scratch filler/heavy fill primer step 4) sand out any imperfections step 5) one or two more coats of scratch filler primer step 6) sand cross hatch at 45 and 45 across the lower part of the cone. step 7) do NOT leave boat in water or repeat steps 4 - 6 (which is about 15 - 20 minutes worth of work and done regularly throughout the summer in my garage.

What you really need is cold fall weather and a BIG lab cleaver. = 100mph.

Perfect, that's how the case is finished now and the 32 lab cleaver is waiting to go. Hopefully the cold weather comes sooner rather than later. Thanks for the help guys!

Well another group that likes to go fast and spend money are the sailors. I thought Jason would have been all over this. A couple of articles

This would suggest that Mitchie is right, well half right, you would want to sand in the direction of water flow over the bottom or gearcase.

45 degree cross hatch...Mitchie you must like to wax your own snow skis for the soft stuff!

Just read this thread today.
Based on M's 100+ results on a nice GBay Fall day, I'm willing to concede the man knows most everything. Impressive.
I gotta say, at the risk of repeating myself, and M's ego exploding, I could hear his freight train coming 2km away, unforgettable sound bouncing off shore rock walls, vaporizing what little water he was slapping; pretty sure I saw a poached bass float up.
Hey Yoda, to make this short,....what don't you know?
