I had a new old stock gen 2 200XS installed on my SS2000 in the summer. Bad move, I cheaped out and tried to re-use my old instruments. Late in the summer my speedometer stopped working. I'm sure it's unrelated to the new motor, but why replace an old tech pito tube speedometer with the same thing.

Merc seems to make multi function gages like we have on our Etec. Is my best option:
0-120 black face speedometer (I won't go much past 90, but the options seem to be 80 or 120) paired with a Smartcraft tachometer?
Can the small digital displays at the bottom of these be read in sunlight? That's my only beef with the Evinrude gages.

Should I get a tach or the Merc Monitor gage?

IMO the smartcraft is way nicer then the monitor gauge. I've never noticed an issue in the sun. They are pricey and make sure you're pricing all the parts...you may need a "J" box for everything to talk.
